If you’d asked me a few years ago how I managed to get through tough days, I wouldn’t have had an answer. Back then, I was just doing my best to survive—juggling responsibilities, dealing with setbacks, and trying not to let the weight of it all overwhelm me. Life wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t easy, either.
It’s funny how you don’t think about belief or hope until you’re forced to lean on them. For me, it wasn’t some big, dramatic moment that made me realize their importance. It was the accumulation of little moments—the days when I barely felt like getting out of bed, but still managed to find something to smile about.
Believing in Today
Some days feel like a sprint, and others feel like a marathon. On the harder days, it’s easy to let the frustration take over. I’ve had my fair share of mornings where I wake up already feeling like I’m behind. The dishes are piled up, the emails are unanswered, and the to-do list feels endless.
But I’ve learned to look for the small wins.
There was a day not too long ago when everything seemed to go wrong. I’d spilled coffee on my shirt before I even made it out the door, got stuck in traffic, and then realized I’d forgotten my wallet at home. By lunchtime, I was ready to write the day off as a complete failure.
And then, out of nowhere, something small happened: a stranger smiled at me as they held the door open. It wasn’t life-changing, but it was enough to pull me out of my funk for a moment. It reminded me that not everything was going wrong.
Believing in today isn’t about ignoring the hard stuff—it’s about finding those little pockets of light in the middle of it. Some days, that light is as simple as hearing my favorite song on the radio, finishing a task I’ve been putting off, or seeing my kids laugh at something silly.
Those moments are the reason I keep going.
Hoping for Tomorrow
If belief is what gets me through today, hope is what keeps me looking forward. There have been times in my life when I’ve felt stuck like I wasn’t sure how to move forward. During those moments, hope felt like the only thing I could hold onto.
I remember one particularly tough week when nothing seemed to go right. I was juggling a lot at work, dealing with personal struggles, and feeling like I was falling short in every area of my life. I went to bed one night completely drained, wondering how I was going to keep up with everything.
But as I lay there, I thought, tomorrow is a new chance. I didn’t need to fix everything all at once—I just needed to do one thing to make the next day a little better. So I decided to wake up a bit earlier to give myself some quiet time before the chaos started.
That small decision made a big difference. It didn’t solve all my problems, but it gave me a sense of control and a little bit of peace.
Hope is like that. It’s not about expecting everything to magically get better overnight. It’s about trusting that there’s always a chance for things to improve, even if it’s just by a small step.
How I Stay Grounded
I won’t pretend I have it all figured out, but I’ve picked up a few habits that help me stay grounded in belief and hope:
Celebrate Small Wins: At the end of each day, I try to think of one good thing that happened. Some days, it’s something big, like finishing a major project. On other days, it’s as small as enjoying a quiet cup of coffee.
Take it One Step at a Time: When life feels overwhelming, I remind myself to focus on the next step instead of the entire staircase. It’s easier to take one small action than to worry about everything at once.
Lean on Positive Influences: I’ve learned to surround myself with people who lift me. Whether it’s a close friend who always knows what to say or a podcast that inspires me, those influences make a difference.
Look Forward: At night, I think about one thing I’m excited about for the next day. It could be a moment of quiet time, a fun activity with my kids, or even just the chance to start fresh.
My Reminder for You
I share all of this not because I’ve mastered it, but because I’m still figuring it out. Belief and hope aren’t about being perfect—they’re about doing your best to keep going, even when it feels hard.
There are still days when I struggle to see the good in today or to hold onto hope for tomorrow. But I’ve learned that even on the toughest days, there’s something to believe in and something to hope for.
So, if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, take it from me: look for the small moments. Believe that today holds something good, even if it’s just a tiny flicker. And hope that tomorrow will be better because it just might be.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve ever felt like your emotions get the best of you—you’re not alone. I’ve been there too, stuck in those moments where reacting feels automatic and unavoidable. However, I’ve learned that taking even a small pause before responding can completely shift how you handle a situation. It’s not easy at first, but it truly changes everything, one moment at a time.
One thing that’s helped me immensely is Coach Ignatius’s Emotions-Based Coaching Session. It’s taught me how to understand my emotions, respond with clarity, and feel more in control. The tools are simple, but they’ve made a huge difference in my life. If you’re looking for that kind of change, I can’t recommend it enough.
Remember, you’re not alone in this. Whether it’s finding the good in today or hoping for a better tomorrow, it all starts with small steps—and you’re strong enough to take them.
